Citizens Taking Charge releases fundraising report

Last week, I wrote about how a group called “Citizens Taking Charge” sponsored a robo call criticizing Sen. Chuck Graham on the eve of a fundraiser featuring Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri. Today, the group filed a fundraising report showing who paid for the calls.

The report, which was dated for today, showed that the group received $4,432.58 from the 48th District Legislative Committee on October 27. On that same day, the committee sent three payments equaling $5,300.86 to Axiom Strategies, which is run by GOP political consultant Jeff Roe. Two of the expenditures were for “phones,” while the other expenditure was for “mail.”

The committee’s direct expenditure report shows that roughly $3,900 was used against Lt. Governor candidate Sam Page. The other $1,400, dated on Oct. 27, was used against Graham.

The 48th District Legislative Committee’s 24-hour report
shows that the committee received a $4,500 expenditure from Axiom Strategies on Oct. 27. Since the report only shows contributions, it’s not known whether that contribution was shipped over to Citizens Taking Charge.

The call implied Graham, D-Columbia, and McCaskill, D-Mo., threw a booze-filled party to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the first-term state senator’s DWI arrest. The robo call also suggests listeners RSVP Graham’s chief of staff, Ted Farnen, at his home phone number.

Republican Kurt Schaefer, Graham’s opponent in next week’s election, denied having anything to do with the calls.

Wow, Axiom Strategies, ran by Jeff Roe who Kurt Schaefer paid to do political work, contributes to the 42nd legislative district and nearly the same amount was donated by the 42nd to Citizens Taking Charge. I find it hard to believe Schaefer had no knowledge of those calls.
Kurt Schaefer is a sleazy politician that hides behind his profession and a myriad of political committees to hide and excuse his actions Nice try Republicans to prop this guy up as some upstanding candidate. He has been exposed.

And Ed is a lonely pathetic blogger who hides behind his drunk driving undeserving of his title state senator… Do you really think that many people in Boone and Randolph read your blogs Ed? They don’t.

    I have an idea!

Someone needs to form a committee that will run ads against all candidates who call police liars, then lie in court when the get caught?

How about a committee to run ads against candidates who take public oaths to stop drinking, but keep doing it anyway?

How about committees to run ads against candidates who funnel federal grant money into their person bank account?

How about a committee to run ads against candidates who get really drunk, over twice the legal limit, then cause a wreck that almost kills someone?

    C is my hero,

    Uh, you did.

  5. Ed says:

    Charles,

How about a committee that runs ads against defenders of sexual predators who hide behind their profession?

I am all for it brother.

However, I will say Jay Nixon was just doing his job. But if you want to hit him for it, be my guest. At this point I am pretty it isn’t going to be enough to beat him.
